Records of Congregation B'nai Jeshurun, 1825-1981 (the bulk of the material goes up only to the 1960s), include: minutes of meetings of the trustees, 1825-1960, of annual general meetings, 1848-1927, and of congregational meetings, 1825-1960 (gaps); synagogue correspondence, including that of trustees, cantors, and Rabbi Israel Goldstein, 1825-1950s; financial records, 1848-1960; cemetery records, 1857-1978; marriage certificates, 1826-1973; a death register, 1853-1928; seat books and other records. containing membership information; records of the synagogue's men's club, sisterhood, religious school, and youth programs; building records; material documenting anniversary celebrations; photographs, and tapes. Of note are tapes of sermons delivered by Rabbi Goldstein, 1950s-1960s. Also included are minutes (in German) of the Gnesner Benevolent Society, 1904-1939 (gaps), and a constitution, by-laws, and a small amount of additional material of the Hebrew Mutual Benefit Society, 1896-1930.

Congregation B'nai Jeshurun, the second oldest synagogue in New York City, was founded in 1825. Rabbi Israel Goldstein (1896-1986) was the synagogue's rabbi, 1918-1960.
